U. W. Platteville School of Engineering

Project Name: U. W. Platteville School of Engineering
Location: Longhorn St.
Contractors: Steven's Construction
Owner: University of Wisconsin Platteville

Project Details:

The summer of 2007 was a busy time at the University of Wisconsin at Platteville. The College of Engineering Math and Sciences moved into their new 108,500 square foot building to help accomodate the growing pains of the highest enrollment to date. Currently, there are over 1700 students enrolled in the College of Engineering. The new building is home to engineering physics, electrical engineering, physics lab as well as the Nanotechnology Center for Collaborative Research and Development. This facility is also home to the "Concrete Canoe", which has consistently won  accolades in both the regional and national competitions. Eager to try new concepts, the architects agreed to use pervious concrete in their rear parking area to help disperse the gound water run off. The 75 yard pour went down seamlessly and has held up quite well to date. The University has been happy with the results and hope to incorporate pervious slabs into future projects.
